Action Radiotherapy

Dr Christy Goldsmith undertook a travel fellowship in aspects of SABR in 2009, learning Linac-based technique at the NKI, Amsterdam, and CyberKnife technique at Stanford University hospital, USA. This experience furthered Dr Goldsmith’s interest in SABR technique and she took up a CyberKnife Fellow post at The Harley Street Clinic, London, studying for an MD(Res) thesis on “Optimising dose delivery and tracking accuracy in SABR”. Dr Goldsmith has presented Abstracts on SABR for Oligometastatic disease at ESTRO, ASTRO and the RSS Scientific meeting.

Improving patient outcomes with Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR)

SABR is a fairly new Radiotherapy treatment approach. High dose radiotherapy is delivered with pin-point accuracy. Patients typically benefit from improved tumour control, and fewer side effects. The treatment duration is also shorter than “standard” radiotherapy meaning patients can get back to normal life much quicker. SABR will be explained to the audience.
